NGVi Launches Industry’s First CNG Fuel System Inspector Training E-Learning

Natural Gas Vehicle Institute (NGVi), the leading provider of technical training for the CNG and LNG industry, unveiled CNG Fuel System Inspector Training as an e-learning option last month. This much- anticipated course is a complete and interactive version of NGVi’s instructor-led training, available on- demand.

The new e-learning course provides technicians the most accessible and convenient means to obtain all of the information and skills necessary to conduct thorough CNG fuel system inspections, adhering to all applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. It also helps prepare technicians for the CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification Exam, which allows them to become NGVi-certified CNG Fuel System Inspectors.

While CNG cylinder inspections are required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 304, NGV industry best practices were amended in 2008 to include an inspection of the entire CNG fuel system. Technicians who perform these inspections play a critical role in ensuring CNG fleet safety. They must be trained and qualified to perform the inspections, which includes both knowledge of components and codes and standards, as well as the skills to interpret those standards and apply them in the CNG fuel system inspection process.
