The Transport Project Announces 2026 NGV Public PolicyChampions at Annual DC Fly-In

Washington, DC – Three lawmakers were honored today by The Transport Project (TTP) for their outstanding contributions toward the advancement of renewable natural gas (RNG) as a transportation fuel at the organization’s annual Fly-In and Public Policy Days in Washington.

U.S Senator Thom Tillis (NC) and U.S. Representatives Randy Feenstra (IA-4) and Linda Sanchez (CA-38) were selected for recognition by the coalition for their work to advance tax credits that benefit fleets who run on clean renewable natural gas.

Produced domestically in all 50 states from landfills, wastewater treatment plants, leftover food, and agriculture waste, RNG when used as an on-road transportation fuel virtually eliminates criteria pollutants and drastically slashed carbon emissions in vehicles of all sizes and applications… from heavy-duty freight trucks and buses to neighborhood last-mile delivery vans and refuse collection trucks.

Senator Tillis and Representative Sanchez are sponsoring legislation in the Senate and House the RNG Incentive Act (S.1252/H.R.2596) that would provide a $1.00/gallon credit to fleets that run on natural gas motor fuel derived from renewable sources. This credit would provide a much-needed runway for encouraging domestic RNG growth in transportation.

Representative Feenstra was recognized for his efforts to include the Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Public Law No. 119-21) last year and for championing ongoing efforts to improve the program, allowing producers to take full credit for all RNG including low-CI dairy RNG which costs more to produce and bring to market but is extremely beneficial to reducing emissions and encouraging needed investments in rural communities.

“These leaders recognize that clean air starts with clean trucks, and the world’s cleanest, most cost effective and scalable commercial heavy-duty engines run on renewable natural gas,” said TTP President Dan Gage. “Their advocacy is increasing RNG usage as a motor fuel which, in turn, lowers the prices of everyday goods for all of us, creates jobs and invests in Rural America and Main Street, deploys clean trucks and buses, and repurposes America’s waste.”

The awards were presented today as over sixty TTP members assembled in Washington. Rep. Feenstra addressed the group as it gathered before fanning out across Capitol Hill to meet with their elected officials and member offices.
