Industry Champion Gordon Larsen Passes

Longtime NGV industry champion Gordon Larsen passed unexpectedly on January 27, 2021. Gordon was 65 years of age.

Gordon had well over forty years of experience as a vehicle technician, NGV fleet supervisor, educator and natural gas vehicle and fueling expert.

Since 2015, Gordon served as Senior Technical Trainer for longtime NGVAmerica member Natural Gas Vehicle Institute (NGVi.) In that role, he helped countless technicians and fleet managers learn how to safely inspect, maintain and service CNG and LNG powered vehicles.

Prior to joining NGVi, Gordon managed Questar Gas Company’s (now Dominion Energy) fleet of 900 vehicles – 800 of which ran on natural gas. He also served in NGV business development capacities, helping customers introduce NGVs and fueling into their operations. Gordon held master-technician certifications from Ford and GM and diesel certifications from Allison, Cummins, Detroit Diesel and Caterpillar. Gordon was also a certified firefighter, fire instructor and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

In 2005, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Natural Gas Vehicles for America (NGVAmerica) and Clean Vehicle Education Foundation (CVEF).
