NCWM Publication 16 Includes Diesel Gallon Equivalent as Voting Item
The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) this week issued the 2015 edition of Publication 16, and as expected it includes the diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) as a voting item, thus paving the way for it to eventually become a national standard. Publication 16 contains the complete reports of the NCWM committees and contains proposed revisions to the Laws & Regulations and the Standards & Tolerances codes. The items in Publication 16 will be considered this summer at the 100th NCWM Annual Meeting July 19–23, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The DGE method of sale standard, definitions and related language are contained in Items 232-4 and 237-1 of the Laws & Regulations report and Item 337-1 of the Standards & Tolerances report. In the coming weeks, NGVAmerica will prepare additional information relating to this proposal. NGVAmerica will be encourage its members and others to reach out to state regulatory officials in advance of the NCWM meeting to urge them to vote for the DGE items.
