Final Plan
The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) released its Final Beneficiary Mitigation Plan in July 2018. This plan outlines a high-level vision for use of Iowa's allocation of funds from the Volkswagen settlement and includes the following allocations:
∙Class 4-8 buses - 45 percent
∙Freight and port drayage trucks - 15 percent
∙Non-road transport and equipment - 10 percent
∙Zero-emission vehicle infrastructure - 15 percent
∙Diesel Emission Reduction Act grant - 15 percent
Funding Opportunity Application Deadline Sept. 10, 2021
This funding opportunity is supported by DERA and VW money and will provide $857,288. This opportunity is available for profit, nonprofit, and public entities that own or operate diesel fleets and equipment in any of the 99 counties in the state of Iowa. Federal and state government agencies and employees are not eligible to receive funding from Iowa’s 2021 DERA Grant Program. DERA funds a variety of on-road and non-road projects that involve replacing and scrapping older diesel trucks, engines or equipment or retrofitting such equipment.
