Iveco to Supply 109 Natural Gas Vehicles to Madrid
Iveco has been chosen as the truck manufacturer in a state procurement selection conducted in Madrid, Spain. The procurement is for the supply of 109 new urban waste collection vehicles powered by CNG for the City of Madrid.
The 109 vehicles to be delivered are Iveco Stralis models, which feature Cursor 8 CNG engines and are fitted with specially-designed collectors to gather and haul waste. The trucks are manufactured at Iveco’s Madrid plant, the very city where the trucks will be put to work. Iveco says the plant is a Silver World Class Manufacturing facility that houses both manufacturing and R&D.
There are currently 43 public CNG stations and 19 LNG stations in Spain, making it the largest provider of LNG stations in Europe. A further nine mixed CNG/LNG stations are currently under development in the country.
