Westport Debuts 3.8L Engine at HHP Summit
This week at the HHP Summit, Westport debuted the latest addition to its alt fuel industrial engines, a 3.8L engine that operates on either natural gas or propane. The 3.8L engine is EPA and CARB certified and can produce 100 kilowatts of power and 347 N-m of torque. Westport says the industrial engine can be used in a variety of off road and stationary industrial applications, including: forklifts; construction vehicles (such as small front-end loaders and excavators); municipal vehicles (such as street sweepers); and airport service vehicles (such as luggage and handling trucks). The engine offers the Westport WP580 electronic control unit, in addition to injectors and regulators from Westport-owned companies, OMVL and EMER. The engine will be available for order in North America by March 2015.
