TruStar Energy Wins Contract to Upgrade California CNG Station

On Thursday, TruStar Energy announced it has been awarded the contract to upgrade the CNG fueling station for Kern County Superintendent of Schools bus fleet in Bakersfield, California. The contract to update and expand the public-private station includes removing older compressors and associated infrastructure and replacing them with new compressors, fueling hoses, dispensers and a canopy. “Since the original station’s construction in 2005, we’ve gone from 10 buses to 60,” said Kern County Superintendent of Schools Energy Conservation Supervisor, Scott Fieber. “We’ve just outgrown the existing station by all shapes and forms.” The public demand for CNG has also risen at the station. Two larger- capacity compressors will effectively double the fuel production of the station. The station upgrades will allow the bus fleet to time-fill at night, during off-peak hours when electricity is cheapest. TruStar Energy construction crews will break ground sometime in September. The station is scheduled for completion near the end of December.
