Bill Calvert Joins REL’s Conformable CNG Tank Program Team

Bill Calvert, co-founder of BAF Technologies and a 32-year veteran in the CNG industry, has joined REL Inc. as an advisory board member for its project to develop a conformable CNG tank. REL is an advanced materials technology development company that was awarded a contract by the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA-e) in their Methane Opportunities for Vehicular Energy (MOVE) program. ARPA- e identified the cylindrical tank shape as an inefficient use of vehicle space and an obstacle to the mass acceptance of CNG vehicles in the U.S. “REL’s technology is addressing the long‐time need for a tank that fits the vehicle,” said Bill Calvert. “I’m excited to be
working with REL on this new technology.” In 2012, NGVAmerica awarded Calvert the Lifetime Achievement Award.
