Linde to Build LNG Fuel System for Finnish Icebreaker
On Monday, the Linde Group and its subsidiary CRYO AB were awarded a contract by Archtech Helsinki Shipyard of Finland to build an LNG fuel system for a new icebreaker for the Finnish Transport Agency. The vessel has been designed for operation in the Baltic Sea, and will feature LNG tanks that will be the biggest ever installed for this kind of application. The LNG fuel system consists of two 400 cubic meter vacuum-insulated tanks that will be installed vertically below deck. CRYO will develop and manufacture the system at its premises in Gothenburg, Sweden. Arctech Helsinki Shipyard will build the new icebreaker and will be commissioned by winter 2016.
