TEXAS FEDEX CARRIER ADDS CNG TRUCK TO FLEET

Harry Carver, a FedEx contractor based in Tyler, Texas, has added a CNG Ford F-59 Step Van to his fleet of 14 trucks and plans to purchase an additional four CNG trucks. The truck, which features the dedicated Westport WiNG Power System, was purchased through a local Ford dealer. The truck will travel 36,000 miles per year delivering packages along one of nine routes from Longview to Kilgore, Texas. Carver says the Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program, which provides reimbursement for up to 90 percent of the incremental cost of a natural gas system, was one of the deciding factors to transition his fleet to natural gas. The truck fuels at the local Independent fuel systems station.
