TRUSTAR OPENS PRIVATE CNG STATION IN FLORIDA; ANNOUNCES STATION CONTRACT

On Thursday, TruStar Energy announced the grand opening of a time-fill CNG fueling station for City Furniture, a Florida-based furniture retailer with 15 locations and a fleet of 90 trucks. The two-compressor station is located at City Furniture’s Tamarac (Broward County) headquarters and warehouse location, and it will be used to fuel their fleet of new CNG-powered delivery trucks. In recent years, the company has led its industry in incorporating sustainable building practices into their stores whenever possible. That same focus led Keith Koenig, president of City Furniture, to take a hard look at CNG to fuel their delivery fleet. “We made the decision after extensive due diligence,” said Koenig, “We concluded that the ROI payback was strong for our company’s future, the environment and the communities we serve.” Koenig said City Furniture plans to convert its entire 90-truck fleet to run on CNG by 2016.

Additionally, TruStar announced a contract award for a large, fast-fill CNG fueling station for High Plains Bioenergy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seaboard Foods. High Plains operates a biodiesel plant that uses animal fats, including pork fat from the Seaboard Foods’ Guymon processing plant, and vegetable oils as the feedstock to produce biodiesel. The two-compressor station will be configured to provide fuel for Seaboard heavy duty vehicles that move products both locally and in over-the-road applications. Seaboard Foods ordered 103 Kenworth CNG-powered tractors with the Cummins Westport ISX 12G engine. “Seaboard Foods continues to investigate other opportunities to integrate CNG into our fleet operations and we are excited about the potential for expansion in the near future,” said Seaboard Foods president and CEO Terry Holton.
