Final Plan
In June 2018, CARB issued its final Beneficiary Mitigation Plan. The plan is heavily tilted toward benefiting electric vehicles and provides the following funding allocations:
Zero-Emission Transit, School, and Shuttle Buses -$130 million
Zero-Emission Class 8 Freight and Port Drayage Trucks - $90 million
Zero-Emission Freight and Marine Projects - $70 million
Combustion Freight and Marine Projects - $60 million
- Low NOx Class 7-8 Freight Trucks
- Tier 4 Freight Switchers
- Tier 4 or Hybrid Ferry, Tugboat, and Towboat Repowers
Light-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure - $10 million
Reserve (including administrative costs) - $63 million
Funding Opportunity - SCAQMD Freight and Marine Projects
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) invites you to attend an informational webinar to learn about the upcoming solicitation of approximately $26 million in Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust funding available to entities throughout California for Combustion Freight and Marine Projects. The funding will be available statewide on a first-come, first-served basis for the following project categories identified below. This solicitation is managed by the SCAQMD and is currently planned for release on Friday, June 4, 2021, pending approval by the AQMD Board later this month. Eligibility: Both public and private entities that own and operate eligible equipment anywhere in California may apply. Funding is available to replace or repower the following vehicle/equipment on a first come, first served basis including for Class 7 and 8 Freight, Drayage, and Dump Trucks, Waste Haulers, and Concrete Mixers, Freight Switcher Locomotives, and repower-only, Ferries, Tugboats, and Towboats.
