Freedom CNG Partners with HDC to Deliver Beer with Clean-Burning CNG
Freedom CNG says cheers to Houston Distributing Company (HDC) for using CNG in 43 percent of its vehicle fleet. HDC is a pioneer in reducing air emissions in the local delivery service sector in Houston with a fleet of CNG heavy and light duty trucks and vans. They currently use 130 CNG vehicles to deliver MillerCoors brands, imported beer and craft labels to retailers, restaurants and local bars throughout Greater Houston.
“HDC has been using CNG in its fleet since March of 2014,” said Ken Garland, Vice President of Operations for HDC. “We partner with Freedom CNG to fuel our fleet and Freedom’s fast fill station is located adjacent to our warehouse and office complex in northwest Houston.”
Currently, HDC uses 700,000 GGEs of CNG a year, and since 2014, HDC has used over 2.6 million GGEs of CNG.
Houston has the worst air quality in Texas and ranks 11th on the American Lung Association’s list of worst polluted cities in the US. In Houston, 67 percent of the ozone emissions come from vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks. CNG vehicles, like those operated by HDC, produce significantly less carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide than diesel or gasoline.
