Scania Offers Opticruise Automated Transmission for 9-Liter Gas Engine

Scania has introduced the ability to combine its Opticruise automated transmission system with its 9-liter gas engine, giving more European customers the opportunity to choose CNG or LNG fuel. Prior to this offering, customers only had the options of selecting manual gearboxes or fully automatic gearboxes. Scania’s 9-liter, five-cylinder gas engine is available in two power ratings, which combine drivability with low noise levels and reduced environmental impact.

“Our 340 hp gas engine is fully comparable in performance to our diesel with the same power rate and actually generates slightly higher maximum torque,” says Magnus Höglund, Director, Sustainable Solutions. “The fact that we now combine our 9-litre engine with Scania Opticruise, enables long-haulage drivers to take advantage of good performance, relaxed driving and a low noise volume.”
