NGVAmerica Commends Oklahoma and Its CNG Retailers on Achieving CNG Milestone

Washington, DC — NGVAmerica commends the State of Oklahoma and its compressed natural gas (CNG) retailers for achieving an important milestone of having at least one CNG station every 100 miles along Oklahoma interstates. Oklahoma’s robust natural gas fueling network continues to support the state’s growing number of motorists looking to take advantage of clean-burning, economical natural gas as a motor fuel.

Governor Mary Fallin’s 2011 Oklahoma First Energy Plan recognized the importance of natural gas as a motor fuel for vehicles in Oklahoma and called for the establishment of a network of CNG infrastructure along Oklahoma highways and interstates. The first goal was to have at least one CNG station every 100 miles along Oklahoma interstates by the end of 2015.

“Governor Fallin has been an exemplary leader in advancing the use of clean-burning natural gas as a transportation fuel,” said NGVAmerica President Matthew Godlewski. “Oklahoma sets an impressive example for other states looking to transition to our country’s abundant supply of natural gas.”

Governor Fallin recently joined CNG retailers—including OnCue Express, Love’s Travel Stops, Sparq Natural Gas, Oklahoma Natural Gas and Tulsa Gas Technologies—and other CNG proponents to celebrate the achievement at the OnCue Express CNG station in Billings, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is a national leader for natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and infrastructure with more CNG stations per capita than any other state in the country. The State has saved more than $1 million in fuel costs after converting most of its fleet to CNG.
