GM to Recall 3,200 Express and Savana CNG Vans
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has acknowledged a notice from General Motors to recall 3,196 2011–2014 Chevrolet Express CNG and GMC Savana CNG full-size vans in the U.S. and 13 in Canada due to a high pressure regulator that may leak natural gas. GM worked with IMPCO Automotive, the provider of the CNG fuel systems, to collect warranty data. Thirty cases of regulator leaks were identified, and 17 other cases were attributed to three additional conditions related to assembly of the regulator, machining of the regulator, and manufacturing of the internal diaphragm assembly. No fires, crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of this issue. IMPCO has issued a Q&A to answer questions about the recall on their website.
