MUD and Trillium Celebrate Station Opening in Nebraska
The Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD) and Trillium CNG held a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony at a new CNG fueling station in Omaha, Nebraska. Werner Enterprises plans to operate 12 CNG tractors using the new station near their Omaha headquarters. The CNG station was designed and built by Trillium CNG. Trillium CNG will also operate the facility and provide maintenance service. This “truck-friendly” public station will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and features multiple truck lanes and convenient access to Interstate 80. “This state-of-the-art station is one of the largest in the region,” said Mark Doyle, senior-vice president of Metropolitan Utilities District, the facility’s natural gas provider. “For CNG traffic, it will serve as a Midwest connection.” The station joins two other public CNG stations that opened in 2011 in midtown Omaha. In 2013, MUD was awarded $749,500 in grant funds from the Nebraska Environmental Trust (NET) to help local partners convert their vehicles to natural gas. The “CNG Fleet Fund” is available to fleets that use the Omaha CNG stations.
