Compelling Case for NGVs Workshop in North Carolina a Success
More than 75 people attended Thursday’s “Compelling Case for NGVs” workshop at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The event, which was co-hosted and organized by Land-of-Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition (LOSCVC) and PSNC Energy, included vendor tabletops, an outdoor vehicle display and site visits to PSNC Energy’s and Altech Eco’s nearby CNG stations. Altech Eco also hosted a site visit/reception at their corporate headquarters that evening. After opening remarks from LOSCVC’s Bill Eaker and PSNC’s Lee McElrath, Stephe Yborra presented the core “Compelling Case” curriculum, followed by a NGV fleet operator panel comprising Mark Stevens (City of Asheville), Sandy Huggins (Valley Proteins), George Geisler (All Bright Sanitation) and Mike Lickert (Giant Eagle). Following lunch were breakout sessions addressing heavy-duty vehicles and light and medium-duty offerings, presented by representatives from GM, Ford, Altech Eco, Westport WING, Nat Gas Car, IMPCO, E- Energy (a North Carolina-based upfitter), Landi Renzo, Kenworth, Freightliner, Cummins Westport, and American Power Group/Clarke Power. In addition to those mentioned above, tabletop/vehicle vendors also included Trillium CNG, ANGI Energy, Clean Energy Nuovo Energy Solutions, Chart and Jones & Frank. Interest was high among the fleet operators in attendance, which included representatives from a regional grocery store chain, a convenience store chain, several local commercial services and industrial manufacturing firms and multiple municipalities from across the region.
