Waste Management Partners with American Lung Association
Waste Management recently partnered with the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest, the American Lung Association of Utah and the U.S. EPA to convert seven diesel waste haulers to natural gas. “This project achieved significant emission reductions, helping the American Lung Association’s mission to fight lung disease and improve lung health,” said Glenn Lanham, Executive Director, American Lung Association in Utah. Currently, Utah is significantly impacted by emissions brought in to the area by mobile transportation. These emissions contribute to the formation of ozone which is held in the Salt Lake County area by the mountain terrain. By converting to CNG engines, the waste hauler will now benefit the health of over one million people by helping to reduce asthma rates, lung disease and medical costs related to lung disease.
