STUDY FINDS HIGH GROWTH IN LNG USE BY NORTH AMERICAN MARINE FLEETS
• January 13, 2014
A new study by Zeus Intelligence, a Houston-based market research firm, finds many North American marine fleets are embracing LNG to power their ships. According to Zeus, at least 42 LNG fueled vessels will be in operation by 2018, including 11 “LNG- ready” vessels. Zeus cites the consistent price differentials between diesel and natural gas and stronger emission benefits as the primary market drivers in North America. The projects consist of 17 ferries, 12 tankers and bulk carriers, six offshore service vessels, six container vessels and one articulated tug barge. For more information, visit the study website.
